
Reason for Stranding
Patient History
-6.0 lb non-FP juvenile green
-reported by a fisherman on the jetties; turtle was severely entangled in monofilament line around the neck and right front flipper; observed floating with head submerged without movement for several minutes then would struggle to try and lift head above water for a breath. Very likely to have ingested seawater. In-water rescue, 1/2 down the Isla Blanca jetties about 10 yards out in the channel. Removed all fishing line immediately.
Patient Injuries
severely entangled/swollen right front flipper, neck entangled/swollen with eyes bulging, left front flipper has evidence of previous entanglement and a hook site (scarred/healed)
– light algae on the carapace
-in-house blood work within normal limits
