What is the Global Impact Grant?
After more than 45 years, Sea Turtle Inc. has grown from its modest grassroots beginning to a worldwide name known for its tireless conservation efforts, decisive cold stun response, and innovative medical care. In 2024, we adopted a vision statement of a world with thriving sea turtle populations and decided to focus our reputation, funding, and efforts on helping small organizations across the globe make meaningful movement towards that vision. Since the launch of the Global Impact Grant, we have already funded more than $350,000 in research and conservation efforts across seven countries. We know that as we deepen our dedication to our vision, we can create global change and lasting impact to bring about a world with thriving sea turtle populations.

Organization: Must be a nonprofit, nongovernmental, educational, or similar eligible organization. For-profit organizati
ons are excluded. Location: The conservation project must take place outside the continental United States.
Purpose: The project must directly support sea turtle conservation and demonstrate conservation impact.
Prior grants: Previous Sea Tur
tle Inc. grant recipients must have submitted their required final report before another a plication can be considered. Start date: Projects must begin on or after January 1, 2027. Funding cannot cover expenses
incurred before January 2027.
Funding restrictions

Organizational overhead
Bank fees
Conference travel
Pass-through grants
Similar indirect expenses

Note: These are priorities, not eligibility requirements. Projects involving other sea turtle species or regions may still qualify.
Application requirements
Applicants must provide a project description, conservation impact, measurable goals, project timeline, required permits and their status, qualified staff, collaborators, detailed budget, other funding sources, and sustainability plan.
Supporting documentation includes organizational registration, financial statements (preferably two years), applicable tax documents, permits, board and executive lists, major contributors, and a project location map.
Note: Multi-year projects may be funded for up to three years, with annual funding dependent on availability and prior deliverables.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applications are typically open from August-October of each year but may be delayed due to Nesting Season.
We are looking for small projects focused on sea turtle conservation who can make the most impact but lack the necessary funding. Both single and multi-year projects are welcome to apply. Priority may be given to projects dealing with particular species and regions within a given funding cycle, but all projects are welcome to apply!
No applications will be accepted after the October deadline that will be posted on this site when applications are open.
All projects should begin by January of the following year after the application process.
