Winter Internship
Seasonal Position - OPEN TO APPLY
Apply now to join the Sea Turtle, Inc. team for our winter internship! This internship provides the opportunity to learn a wide variety of the day-to-day operational aspects of a non-profit organization, as well as directly participate in all aspects of the mission. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Admissions, retail, and customer service
- Facility opening and closing duties
- Turtle husbandry, including diet preparation, water quality, tank cleaning, and patient care
- Educational events including on-site activities, field trips, off-site outreach events, and virtual events
- Assisting with cold stunning events
- Stranding response and after-hours emergency phone response
and humid conditions as well as cold and stormy conditions.
Benefits/Housing: Off-site shared housing is provided on South Padre Island, TX along with a $35 per workday stipend. Housing is air-conditioned and equipped with basic furniture, Wi-Fi, kitchen and bathroom supplies. Please note, pets are not allowed in housing. Food and transportation not provided. Personal vehicle is not required on the island.

Jeffrey George Internship Program
Seasonal Position - CLOSED FOR 2023 SEASON
Description: Sea Turtle, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a three-part mission of public education, sea turtle rehabilitation, and conservation. The internship program runs from April 1 – to August 15. Applications open in November and are focused on Education, Rehabilitation and Conservation.
Applicants must be college graduates in education, biological science, wildlife and fisheries science, environmental science, or other related fields. U.S. citizenship or a permit to work in the U.S. is required. In addition, applicants must be 18 years of age or older, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass a criminal background check. Finally, interns must be comfortable working in adverse weather conditions.
Shared housing is provided on South Padre Island, Texas, with a $35 per workday stipend. Accommodation is air-conditioned and equipped with basic furniture, Wi-Fi, and kitchen supplies. Please note, pets are not allowed in housing. Food and transportation are not provided. A personal vehicle is not required on the island.
