The Jeffery George Internship Program
Sea Turtle Inc. is a global leader in sea turtle Conservation, Education, Applied Research, and Medical Care. With the recent completion of the world’s largest fully-enclosed sea turtle hospital, we are looking for passionate interns for the summer season. Hands-on internships are available with our Education, Conservation, or Medical Care teams.
The Jeffery George Internship Program is intended to help candidates gain knowledge and experience in the field between undergraduate and graduate degrees, or prior to beginning their professional career. As such, applicants must be recent college graduates, at least 18+ years of age, hold a valid US drivers license, and be available for the entirety of the internship period. Deadline to apply is January 2, 2027.
Internships are April 1 – August 15, 2027.
Education Internship
Our Education Internship puts you at the heart of sea turtle outreach, giving you real-world experience delivering public presentations, leading youth programs, and directly engaging guests in our hospital and museum spaces. You will work alongside dedicated professionals, hone your public speaking skills, and help educate thousands of visitors on sea turtle rehabilitation and marine protection. We provide air-conditioned on-site housing and a $35 per workday stipend.
Medical Care Internship
Immerse yourself in clinical sea turtle care and rehabilitation inside our state-of-the-art facility. Medical Care Interns gain direct experience in patient intake, diagnostic lab work, treatment restraint, necropsies, and 24-hour stranding response. Designed for recent graduates in biological sciences or veterinary technology, and other related fields. This role builds essential skills in animal husbandry, medical recordkeeping, and emergency response. On-site housing and a $35 per workday stipend are provided.
Conservation Internship
Get out into the field and work directly on the frontlines of sea turtle protection! As a Conservation Intern, you will conduct UTV nesting patrols along South Padre Island, tag nesting females, including the critically endangered Kemp’s Ridley, relocate nests, and collect vital biometric data. During hatching season, you’ll be part of public hatchling releases, manage overnight nest excavations, and respond to wild sea turtle strandings. This immersive position offers unparalleled hands-on experience in wildlife research and species recovery in extreme, fast-paced coastal conditions. Air-conditioned on-site housing and a $35 per workday stipend are included!
