Sea Turtle Inc. began with the extraordinary passion of Ila Loetscher, who officially founded the organization in 1977. Ila’s pioneering work brought the urgent cause of sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation to national attention. Although Ila passed away in 2000, her legacy is carried on by a dedicated team. Today, Sea Turtle Inc. is powered by a growing, integral volunteer force and small full-time staff committed to our mission. Our growth has been remarkable. Thanks to generous support, we celebrated the opening of our education facility in 2018, which welcomes thousands of visitors annually.
Now, we are focused on the future of care. Thanks to the success of our Capital Campaign, we have transformed our original 1999 location into a world-class sea turtle hospital, which is now open and providing lifesaving care. Your continued support is vital to ensure Ila’s legacy continues for decades to come.
