Tilly “Santo”

Date Stranded: April 19, 2019

Reason for Stranding

Boat Strike

Patient History

A local resident spotted Tilly struggling to dive in the bay.

Jan 2020- Santo is doing great! Pulling once weekly for an updated weight. Should be on track for a spring release!

Patient Injuries

Tilly has three separate boat propeller strikes extending from her head to the middle of her shell. The injuries appear older as dead bone and necrotic tissue were present on arrival. Our rehab staff removed the dead tissue and bone and the wound is undergoing treatment using cold-laser therapy, which promotes cell growth and helps wounds heal faster. Tilly also has fibropapillomatosis virus. This virus causes tumors to grow. In the future, Tilly will be taken in for surgery to have the tumors removed

Patient Treatments

fluids, antibiotics, cold-laser therapy
