Reason for Stranding

Patient History

A family visiting Boca Chica Beach found JAAMS swimming very slowly in the shallow water of Barracuda Cove.

Patient Injuries

There is a deep constriction site around the left front flipper caused by the fishing line. There was also fishing line in JAAMS’ mouth on arrival. The flipper is severely inflamed with dead tissue present. It is unclear at this time if JAAMS’ flipper can be saved or if he will need a flipper amputation.

Patient Treatments

Fluids, Antibiotics, Vitamin B (to increase appetite/energy)

Ways to help JAAMS's Recovery

One of the three primary missions at Sea Turtle, Inc. is rehabilitation. We work hard to rescue and return every sea turtle back to the wild. Proceeds from this adoption will go directly to purchase needed medical supplies, veterinary exams, x-rays, food and general care for our rehab turtles.
