About the Program
Plastic Free RGV is a year-long sustainability initiative dedicated to combating plastic pollution in the Rio Grande Valley. Plastic Free RGV aims to give community members the tools to create sustainable habits through online resources, digital content, research, and community events.
Why go plastic-free?
Each year, billions of pounds of trash and pollutants end up in our oceans. Plastic can take many years to break down, causing major problems for our marine ecosystems. Reducing our plastic use can help ensure cleaner beaches and healthy marine life, preserving the natural beauty of the RGV for generations to come.
Through our program, you can learn more about reusable alternatives, the dangers of plastic pollution on sea turtles and other wildlife, and discover simple ways to reduce your environmental footprint, one small action at a time.
