Reason for Stranding
Fishermen found Sierra 4X4 floating in the shipping channel in Port Mansfield.
Jan 2020- Sierra has more energy and we have seen her diving! Still not eating on her own; we try tong-feeding every day, and we are tube feeding twice weekly. We are closely monitoring Sierra’s blood values, especially the white blood cell count as it can be an indicator of infection.
There is severe propeller damage to the top of the shell. The boat strike contained seagrass, sediment, and invertebrates indicating the wound was not fresh. Sierra 4×4 is also missing a chunk of the right front flipper most likely from the boat strike as well.
Ways to help Sierra 4×4's Recovery
Adopt Sierra 4×4
One of the three primary missions at Sea Turtle, Inc. is rehabilitation. We work hard to rescue and return every sea turtle back to the wild. Proceeds from this adoption will go directly to purchase needed medical supplies, veterinary exams, x-rays, food and general care for our rehab turtles.
