Reason for Stranding
-18.4 lb green with FP
-was observed by SPI lifeguards floating/not able to dive well about 3/4 of the way down the Isla Blanca jetties (Gulf side) about 30 yards out; after 2 hours of rescue efforts, we were finally able to net/recover the turtle
Entangled in braided line around the neck and both front flippers; the right front flipper was severely entangled and had a deep stricture site with necrotic tissue present, the left front flipper was moderately entangled and had a stricture site as well (not as deep as the RFF), and it was loosely entangled around the neck (no evidence of stricture sites around the neck).
Ways to help Pecas's Recovery
One of the three primary missions at Sea Turtle, Inc. is rehabilitation. We work hard to rescue and return every sea turtle back to the wild. Proceeds from this adoption will go directly to purchase needed medical supplies, veterinary exams, x-rays, food and general care for our rehab turtles.
