Hello Everyone! My name is Emma Pontius and I am originally from Portland, Maine. Growing up on the coast of Maine I have always been drawn to the ocean. Playing in the tidal pools along the rocky coast and spending days at the shore, I developed a deep connection with the ocean and a curiosity for sea life. I continued to follow my passion by graduating with a degree in Marine Science from the University of Maine. During my four years I was a member of the women’s varsity swim team and had the honor of being captain my senior year. After graduating I spent several months volunteering with The Hawaii Island Hawksbill Turtle Recovery Project based in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. I developed a new passion while working with sea turtles and knew I had to pursue opportunities to allow me to continue to work with them!
